Beyond what we see.

Through intimate, filmed conversations, we share the stories of people whose lives have been shaped by loving someone who experiences the world differently—and the stories of the remarkable people they love.

Beyond Us was born from our founder's relationship with her older brother, Charles, who has autism and an intellectual disability. Growing up alongside him meant experiencing a world that was sometimes complicated, sometimes beautiful, often misunderstood, and almost always difficult to explain to someone who hadn't lived it.

Behind closed doors were conversations, moments of humor, frustration, tenderness, insight, and extraordinary love that the outside world never saw.

And there are countless families with stories like these.

Beyond Us exists to make space for them.

Here, a person is never reduced to a diagnosis, and a relationship is never reduced to its challenges. We are interested in everything that exists beyond the label: personality, humor, complexity, struggle, joy, growth, resilience, and the unexpected ways another human being can change who we become.

We speak with siblings, parents, partners, children, relatives, friends, caregivers, educators, and others willing to open a window into a part of their lives we don't often get to witness.

Sometimes they come alone. Sometimes they share the conversation with the person they love.

Every story is different.

But at the heart of each conversation is a simple question:

For those who have lived these experiences, we hope Beyond Us feels like recognition—a reminder that somewhere, someone understands.

For everyone else, we hope it is an invitation to come a little closer, listen a little longer, and discover what exists beyond what we see.
